About Us
Sunrise at Foothills Rabbitry
Our rabbitry connects us with each other, with the past generations, with the land, and with our community.
After adopting a rabbit in 2016, our oldest daughter lost all interest in dolls and, took great joy in being a “mama” to the bunnies. Sister often lends a hand and is very good with the bunnies, too. With parental support every step of the way, a rabbitry was born.
For us parents, both of us already had some experience living off the land. Dad is a native Atlantan who enjoyed having rabbits and chickens and gardening as a youth. Mom grew up on an off-grid organic family farm with a dad that was an herbalist, and a mom who was a “magician in the kitchen”.
After such an upbringing Mom studied biology at university. Her range and depth of knowledge of self-sustainability deepened. The whole family benefits from her wisdom.
We are 3 miles from Kennesaw Mountain, just north of Marietta, Georgia. We call our rabbitry “Foothills Rabbitry” because the topography here is influenced by the Appalachian mountain range. We are in its Foothills.
We are thankful to each of our parents, who taught us as children to appreciate animals and plants, and to take good care of them and ourselves. Our goal is to raise increasingly better rabbits for our family and for the public, and to be a resource for those who wish to adopt one or more bunnies.
